Additionally, heat pumps ensure a comfortable indoor climate year-round with minimal maintenance requirements. We specialise in heat pumps using the best tech, and adapted to your unique home and needs.

Planning to purchase a heat pump

Planning before purchasing a heat pump is crucial to ensure you choose the right heat pump for your needs and your home. Here are some important aspects to consider when planning:

Heat demand and heating load:

Determine your current and future heat needs and the heating load of your building. This will help you determine the right size and power of heat pump required to heat your home efficiently.

Heat sources:

Investigate the available heat sources in your area from which the heat pump can extract the heat it needs. This could be air, water or geothermal. Choose the heat source that best suits your location and needs.

Heat emission:

Consider the different ways of distributing heat in your home, such as underfloor heating, radiators or heaters. Make sure the heat pump you choose is compatible with your existing heating system or plan to make adjustments if necessary.

Energy efficiency:

Pay attention to the energy efficiency of the heat pump to ensure that you save energy and costs in the long term. Check the energy efficiency classes and performance indicators (e.g. COP – Coefficient of Performance) of the different models.

What are the benefits of using a heat pump?

Heat pumps are highly efficient, can reduce energy bills, and have a lower environmental impact compared to traditional heating systems. They provide both heating and cooling, making them versatile for year-round use.

How do I choose the right heat pump for my home?

Consider factors such as the size of your home, climate, available heat sources, and your heating needs. It’s essential to evaluate the energy efficiency of different models and consult with a professional to determine the best fit.

Are heat pumps effective in cold climates?

Yes, modern heat pumps are designed to work efficiently even in cold climates. Some models are equipped with enhanced features to maintain performance in lower temperatures.

What are the different types of heat pumps?

The main types of heat pumps are air-source, ground-source (geothermal), and water-source. Air-source heat pumps are the most common and easiest to install, while ground-source and water-source heat pumps offer higher efficiency but require more extensive installation.

How much does it cost to install a heat pump?

The cost varies depending on the type of heat pump, installation complexity, and local market rates. It’s important to get multiple quotes and consider both upfront and long-term operating costs.

Can I use a heat pump with my existing heating system?

Yes, heat pumps can be integrated with existing heating systems. In some cases, modifications may be necessary to ensure compatibility and optimal performance.

How do I maintain a heat pump?

Regular maintenance is crucial for efficient operation. This includes cleaning filters, checking refrigerant levels, and ensuring that the system components are in good working order. Professional heat pump servicing is recommended annually.

Are there any government incentives for installing heat pumps?

Many governments offer incentives and subsidies for installing energy-efficient systems like heat pumps. Check with local authorities or consult with your installer to learn about available programs.

How long does a heat pump last?

With proper maintenance, a heat pump can last 15-20 years. The lifespan depends on the type of heat pump, usage, and how well it is maintained.

What is the environmental impact of using a heat pump?

Heat pumps have a lower carbon footprint compared to traditional fossil fuel heating systems. They use renewable energy sources and produce fewer greenhouse gas emissions, contributing to environmental sustainability.

Heat Pump FAQs

What is a heat pump and how does it work?

A heat pump is an energy-efficient device that transfers heat from one place to another, typically from outside to inside a building. It uses a refrigeration cycle to extract heat from the air, ground, or water, even in cold weather, and pumps it indoors for heating.

What are the benefits of using a heat pump?

Heat pumps are highly efficient, can reduce energy bills, and have a lower environmental impact compared to traditional heating systems. They provide both heating and cooling, making them versatile for year-round use.

Regional heat pump subsidies in Spain

The amount of government funding available for heat pumps in Spain, varies regionally.  Here is an example.

Heat pump subsidies in Mallorca

In Mallorca, you can receive state subsidies for the purchase and installation of heat pumps. The amount of the subsidy varies depending on the type of system and the specific conditions of the subsidy programme.

Subsidy amounts:

Basic subsidy: For heat pumps, there is a basic subsidy of 30% of the eligible costs. This basic subsidy can amount to up to €30,000 per project, which means a maximum subsidy of €9,000.

Speed bonus: In addition, you can receive a speed bonus of 20% if you replace your old heating system with a heat pump by 2028. This bonus drops to 17% from 2029.

Income bonus: A further bonus of 30% can be granted if your taxable income does not exceed the limit of €40,000 per year.

Efficiency bonus: If your heat pump uses an environmentally friendly refrigerant, you can receive an additional 5% efficiency bonus.

Maximum subsidy amount: Together, the subsidies can amount to up to 70% of the investment costs, capped at a maximum of €21,000 per project.
